DAVID HARWELL
Technical Director – Television Commercials Gate Keeper

David fondly remembers his high school days at W. A. Berry, home of the Buccaneers, where he graduated in 1972.  Talk about football tradition!  The Buccaneers were more than a winning program under the late Bob Finley.
After his graduation from Berry, David received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from UAB.
David has participated in competition swimming, basketball officiating, running, and weight training. He was a Water Safety Instructor Trainer for the Birmingham Area Red Cross.  He continues to be a key volunteer civic leader in the Vestavia Hills/Hoover communities.
During the past two or three decades, David’s voice imitations have been recognized by thousands in the Birmingham Metro Area.  His most noted imitation was the late, then Birmingham Mayor George G. Seibels, Jr. heard daily on the “T C and John Ed Show” on WERC.
A member of the Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, David helped produce, engineer, direct and operate cameras for the church’s television ministries for more than 20 years.
After retiring from his family operated business, David answered Pat Patrick’s call to come on board and help produce the initial year of the televised Friday Night Football seen on as many as six cables stations and as many as a million homes each week.
A Red Cross Communications Award Winner and a 2007 Announcer of the Year recipient, David Harwell’s input and direction with Pat Patrick Promotions continues to make the Best in High School Football what it is and continues to be, Headquarters for Friday Night Football in Alabama.

Donald

DONALD A. HARWELL
Floor Director / Set Arrangement / Special Effects

Donald, along with his twin brother David, graduated from W. A. Berry High School in 1972.  A Birmingham native, Donald continued his higher education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and holds a BS degree in Business Administration.
Donald’s sports activities over the years included competitive swimming, officiating basketball and qualifying as a Water Safety Instructor Trainer for the Birmingham Area Red Cross.   Donald continued his sports interest through his children’s participation with Dixie Youth Baseball and Girl’s Softball.  Today it is not unusual seeing him on the golf course with his two sons, especially at Hoover Country Club.
Donald became interested in radio broadcasting and entertainment early in life when his older brother built an illegal radio station in the basement of their house.  On the air as WVST in Vestavia it was soon shut down by the F.C.C.
As a member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, he helped produce, engineer, direct and operate cameras for the church’s television ministries for over 20 years.
Retiring after 33 years of work from a family operated business of 60 years, Donald came on board with Pat Patrick Promotions in 2007 to assist with Pat’s television production.  As an award winner, he is seldom seen or heard while making the rough road smooth for the announcers and the truck boss.   Donald Harwell is always in the background that makes the night enjoyable for The Best in High School Football.
